Even though you live in Colorado you might not want the mountains as the backdrop for your engagement session.
You want something creative– that feels like a real representation of you. The best way to do that is to plan a fun day or date night and then have me tag along to snap some photos.
When your session feels like a date with a fun third wheel (that’s me), it’s going to make it soo much easier to get pictures that represent your relationship and show off your personality.
If you want some sexy, moody photos and are okay with a little PDA, let’s head to a restaurant for your session.
Or maybe you want to incorporate some music into your session, in which case we should head to a vinyl store or listening bar.
I’ve compiled a list of my absolute favorite spots for engagement sessions near Denver, Colorado.
It includes brightly lit spaces with neutral backdrops and vibey restaurants with neon lights. There are spots for foodies, interior design enthusiasts, & cocktail lovers.

Going someplace where you’re already comfortable is naturally going to put you at ease. Let’s go to your favorite joint and take pics at a spot you already love. This will make for some fun pictures that mean more to you than random photos on a mountain you’ll never return to.
Fort Greene serves up the eclectic energy with green walls, paper flowers, & velvet couches. It’s perfect for an untraditional backdrop that makes for the coolest pics. The inside doesn’t have a ton of windows so this spot is a must for my direct flash babes. (Plus, they have a garden area with a coffin, which is obviously my favorite part.)
If you have a slow Sunday morning type-of-love, then ESP Hifi is your spot. ESP is a listening bar that combines artisanal alcoholic beverages with melodic music to create the moodiest space for a session. The owner of this spot is awesome, and will curate cool music for you to listen to during your shoot.
For sexy, fun vibes, head to the Mexican restaurant and bar: Ghost Donkey. The red walls, dim-lights, and funky decor make for really unique photos. Plus, we can grab chips & queso after…and who doesn’t want that.
If you and your boo are music lovers, why not surround yourself with vinyls during your session?
Twist & Shout is a great option for the music-inclined. I’ve yet to shoot here, but I know the final gallery would be so fun. It’s impossible to take boring photos here because there are so many options we can play around with. If you’re open to explore and create some really special photos, definitely choose Twist & Shout for your engagement session spot.
If you love plants, then an engagement session at a nursery would be right up your alley. Colorado has several, two of my favorites being Little Eden & Nick’s.
Little Eden will let you use their greenhouse for your photo session, in exchange for a case of their favorite beer. That alone should tell you how cool the staff are. This spot is perfect if you want to be surrounded by greenery or flowers.
Nick’s Garden Center in Aurora is also a photographer-friendly spot for engagement sessions and has some extra variety. In addition to a nursery space, they also have a cute little produce spot.
In the fall, they have sweet decorations. So if you’re a fall bitch like me, this might be the perfect pick. The entire place is mainly outside, so keep that in mind when planning your session.
For a versatile session where we have the most control over what goes down, renting a studio is a great choice. Studios provide so much room for creativity. We can go all out with an intentional set that’s tailored to your personality or do something simple with a backdrop or studio furniture.
Denver Photo Collective is in a massive warehouse-style building with several backdrops to choose from. We can play around with different plants, couches, stools, lighting, and desks to craft the perfect shot.
If you want a sure-fire way to elevate your studio photos, add some fresh flowers from my favorite florist Fern and Bloom or a custom cake or baked good from Love, Emily Bakery.
There’s nothing more personal than an engagement session at your house. We can incorporate different details from your daily lives & hobbies you share. The possibilities are endless: cook a meal together, listen to records on vinyl, play instruments, cuddle with pets. You name it. The idea is to make it specific to your relationship. Plus, you don’t have to change outta your sweats or tidy up for me. You just be you and I’ll be there to capture it.
At the end of the day, the most important thing isn’t the location you choose, but the person you’re getting photographed with. (Awww). So just focus on choosing a spot that feels most fun and comfortable to you both, wherever the hell that might be. And if you have someplace else you wanna try that’s not on the list, you know I’m always up for exploring somewhere new.
